Discovery Time

Students are discovering how to be independent learners, discovering how to be good friends and discovering how to work cooperatively.  We have discovery time at least three times a week.  Students get to choose where they want to go.  I switch around the Discovery Choices every month.  Here are few of their Discovery Time choices.

Cars is one of the favorite Discovery Time Choices.

Carpenter Farms

We took our first field trip to Carpenter Farms.  The students had a great time playing in the corn bin, the "hayground" and having a donut and cider snack.

Our Kid Town

While learning about community workers, we also learned about the needs and wants of a community.  We created our own town: Kid Town.  Students were able to design their own home and a business for our community.  We brainstormed ideas for our town.  I was so proud of my students, the quality of their work and the final product: Kid Town.

We had the Madison Fire Department come visit us during Community Worker week.  Students learned about fire safety.  It was a great visit!!
